This month on our social media, we’re journeying through Proverbs. Unlike most books of the Bible that tell a story, Proverbs is a collection of wise sayings to help shape and guide the decisions we make. With that in mind, we designed this month’s journal prompts to help you look inward as you think about the things that inform your decisions and outward as you take inventory of your relationships. You can follow the prompts on our Instagram and Facebook.
And to further equip you as you explore Proverbs and decision-making, check out the resources below. The article from Christine Caine helps us consider the tension between control and trust, especially when circumstances may not be what we hoped. And the reading plan from BibleProject is perfect for those wanting to dive deeper into Proverbs. It’s also a great supplement to use with your group if you choose to spend a month covering The Bible – which is one of the new mentoring modules we just added to our Known Collective resources!
There are countless valuable resources on the book of Proverbs but not enough space to share them all! If you have one that has helped you or shaped your understanding of Proverbs, let us know. We’re always looking to pass along resources to those on this mentoring journey with us.
Part of wisdom is knowing when to stop trying to control a situation and trust God for what needs to happen. In this article, Christine Caine challenges us to take a step back and look at how our expectations can drive our need to control things in certain situations.
BibleProject created this 32-day study on Proverbs and the wisdom it contains. Using Bible passages and videos, this study guides us to think about wisdom in a new way as we examine the daily decisions we make. Grab a friend to read along, as this study presents excellent opportunities for discussion.
MENTORING IS MODELING
Mentoring involves modeling…doing what you do so others can see you do it and learn. If you faithfully trust God and His wisdom in your daily life, your mentees will learn from watching you live out this perspective.
It can be hard to make time in our busy schedules for Scripture memorization, which is why we created this wallpaper for your phone. Set it as your lock screen or home screen, and you’ll always have it ready when you have a few minutes to spare. Reading the verse before you send a text or scroll Instagram is a good reminder of Scripture’s power, and will help you commit it to memory.
Mentor Tip: When you cover the topic of Priorities with your mentees, send this out to help them keep that month’s Scripture front and center.
